Library Overview
Founded in 1885, the Georgia Institute of Technology has played an important and vital role in the development of Atlanta and Georgia. Tech’s history reflects its strong commitment to the role of technology, industry, and research, and the library and archives play a major role in that endeavor.
The Archives and Records Management Department promotes research and scholarship through collections relating to the academic curriculum by preserving and providing access to the history of Georgia Tech, its faculty, students, and alumni. These include a 4,332-volume rare book collection, a 4,000-volume science fiction collection complemented by 200 artifacts, approximately 1,000 collections of manuscripts, University Archives, photographs, and architectural drawings.
